Sanitation workers to report crimes ( 2003-10-24 17:13) (China Daily) After drafting a batch of
motorcycle-cab drivers to work as police informants, Shijie Town in Dongguan has
contracted 100 sanitation workers to report suspicious activities, reports
Guangzhou Daily.
The street sweepers can earn from 300 to 2,000 yuan (US$36-240) for useful
leads.
And job rotation is promised to prevent criminals from exacting revenge.
Sanitation workers, who spend nearly 18 hours a day on the streets, are
expected to make great contributions to social security, police said.
The police also plan to hire delivery men and taxi drivers to join their
crime-reporting force.
