Woman sues matchmaker ( 2003-10-24 17:03) (China Daily) An online matchmaking service
accused of cheating one of its customers has been ordered to refund part of the
woman's introduction fee, reports Beijing Evening News.
When Xiao phoned the "Nice Marriage" matchmaking company on June 20 and asked
for detailed information about its services, the employee she spoke to invited
her to their offices for a face-to-face talk.
Impressed by the agency, Xiao filled in a form with her personal information
and paid 300 yuan (US$36) for matchmaking services.
But after a date arranged by the agency, she complained that the man they set
her up with was badly behaved and asked for her money back. The agency refused.
The Xuanwu District People's Court ruled that there was no clear evidence
that the agency had cheated Xiao but ordered the company to refund 240 yuan
(US$29) to her.
