NBA-Knee surgery for Wizards forward Stackhouse ( 2003-10-23 13:42) (Agencies)
Washington Wizards forward Jerry Stackhouse has undergone arthroscopic
surgery on his troublesome right knee.
"The doctors tell us that the surgery was successful and that they performed
the necessary procedures to address the discomfort in Jerry's knee," Wizards
president of basketball operations Ernie Grunfeld told reporters Wednesday.
"Jerry is a very competitive person and I know he will do everything he can
to rehab in the most efficient and effective way possible and get back to help
his team mates in any way he can."
Stackhouse, the third overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft, averaged 21.5
points in 70 games with the Wizards last season. Last week he was diagnosed with
chondromalacia, a wearing of the lining of the kneecap.
