Witnesses take oath of honesty ( 2003-10-22 15:10) (China Daily) Witnesses in a recent lawsuit
took oaths of honesty before giving testimony in court for the first time in
Southwest China's Sichuan Province, reports Huaxi Metropolis News.
"I take my oath before this court: I swear that I will faithfully uphold my
duty to bear witness in this court, and I will tell the whole truth, concealing
nothing. If I breach my words, I will accept the appropriate legal punishment
and moral condemnation," Li vowed in court on Monday.
Li then signed her name and pressed her fingerprint to a piece of paper
recording her oath after giving testimony.
Li told a reporter she respected the seriousness of the law and felt she had
an obligation to tell the truth after taking the oath.
