5,000 yuan sought for 'choking' ( 2003-10-22 15:07) (China Daily) Police were called upon to
subdue a man who demanded 5,000 yuan (US$600) in compensation from a restaurant
after he "choked" on some soft tofu, reports Information Times.
Chen, from Hebei Province, ate at a restaurant near Shenzhen Railway Station
on October 17.
After he and his two companions consumed six bottles of beer and one bottle
of wine, Chen suddenly fell to the floor, clasped his throat and yelled that he
was choking on "a piece of tofu".
Doctors failed to find anything wrong with Chen but did point out that he was
drunk.
Chen and his companions visited the restaurant several times afterwards,
demanding 5,000 yuan in compensation. Police had to be called when he tried to
stage a loud protest at the restaurant.
