Bird-watching contest lures many ( 2003-10-22 14:15) (China Daily) A bird-watching contest was
held in Yanqing County last weekend, reports Beijing Morning Post.
Ten teams of "twitchers" from five provinces and municipalities in North
China participated in the competition.
Team members took their positions around Wild Duck Lake, observing migrating
birds through high-powered telescopes and naming the various species.
All of the competitors wore dark-coloured clothing to keep from disturbing
the birds.
The Tianjin Team took first prize for accurately identifying 67 kinds of
birds.
