Jail for turning kids to crime ( 2003-10-21 11:48) (China Daily) A junior-college graduate was
recently sentenced by the Minhang People's Court to four-and-a-half years in
prison for teaching children to steal, Jiefang Daily reports.
Bao Wulian, 36, first tried to earn a living in business but, when that
failed, he started enlisting the help of young children to make his fortune.
He lured six children aged six to 11 with small gifts to persuade them to
pick pockets for him.
In addition to stealing skills, he also taught them how to elude arrest or
distract police, by swallowing knives for instance.
