A gigantic hornet's nest, weighing 2.5 tons and consisting of eight layers, hangs from the eaves of a family's home in Pingdingshan in Central China's Henan Province, reports Henan Daily.

Xi Zhongyang, the owner of the house, said the nest first appeared in the early 1990s and gradually became larger over time.

Xi's family have lived in harmony with the resident hornets for several years. As a result, they are seldom bothered by flies or mosquitoes.
