NBA: McGrady scores 27 as Magic beat Jazz ( 2003-10-17 13:49) (Agencies)
Tracy McGrady scored 27 points and the Orlando Magic snapped a four-game preseason losing streak with a 90-86 victory over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
McGrady, who shot 7-for-13 from the field and 12-for-13 from the line, scored five unanswered points midway through the fourth quarter to give Orlando a 78-74 lead in front of a crowd of 12,779 at the Savvis Center.
The Magic never led in the first half and held a brief, one-point lead in the third quarter in the first preseason game between the teams.
Drew Gooden scored 20 points for Orlando before being ejected at 5:43 of the fourth quarter.
Matt Hapring scored 19 points for the Jazz (3-1). Andrei Kirikenko and Sasha Pavlov added 10 points each.
The Jazz were playing their second preseason game in St. Louis. Utah played the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 25, 1995, and lost 89-80 in front of 14,541 fans.
Orlando used a 15-9 run in the first six minutes of the third quarter to take a 54-53 lead. Utah used a 13-10 run to regain the lead at 66-64 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Jazz led 44-39 at halftime.
McGrady and Gordon Giricek each scored 14 points in the first half for Orlando. Giricek finished with 17 points.
