Top-ranked Kim Clijsters overpowered Katarina Srebotnik 6-2, 6-2 Thursday to reach the Swisscom Challenge quarterfinals.

Clijsters took 4-0 leads in each set. She next plays Tina Pisnik, who knocked off sixth-seeded Ai Sugiyama 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.

In other action, defending champion Patty Schnyder eliminated third-seeded Amelie Mauresmo 6-2, 6-2. Schnyder will play Jelena Dokic in the quarterfinals.

Also, Elena Bovina defeated Paola Suarez 6-4, 6-3 and will face Nadia Petrova next.
