50,000 yuan for damaging infrared monitor ( 2003-10-16 10:55) (China Daily)
A man was fined 50,000 yuan (US$6,040) at Beijing's Capital International
Airport for knocking down a body temperature monitor after refusing to let his
temperature be taken, reports Beijing Youth Daily.
Administrative staff at the airport said the fine would be used to repair the
expensive instrument, which is valued at 1.5 million yuan (US$180,000).
According to government regulations, all passengers must submit to a
temperature check when checking in. The passenger who refused was quarreling
with airport staff when he damaged the instrument.
