China sweep South Korea 17-0 at World Women's JR Softball ( 2003-10-16 01:56) (Xinhua)
China put on a startling display of power at the plate and on the mound Wednesday night, overwhelming South Korea 17-0 for a second victory on at the Junior Women's World Softball Championship here. Lei Donghui and Lu Yi both homed for China and Li Li also had four Run Batted Ins. China won the match with only four innings. South Korea never got any chance to score during the two hours match, but had six unforced errors. Yang Minsuk, South Korea's head coach, blamed his team's failure to the night play. "We are not used to play at night. We lack experience playing under the spotlight," Yang said. Chinese girls conquered the mound in the match and led 8-0 after two innings. But Chinese head coach Liu Yaming said he was not satisfied. "Some players did not play as well as they should. I am especially not satisfied with our two players who hit homers, they are too relaxed in the match." With a 7-0 victory over New Zealand in another preliminary round match earlier on Wednesday, China will play defending champion Japan on Thursday. "We have prepared against Japan and Australia for a long time. The first four of our games here are part of our preparations for clashes with the two teams," Liu added.
