Sulphuric acid victim to start work ( 2003-10-15 14:48) (China Daily)
Lin Lin, a victim in the country's first case of disfigurement caused by
sulphuric acid, has been accepted as an intern by the Shanghai Postal
Administration and will most likely be recruited after three months of training,
Shanghai Youth Daily reports.
In 1986, Lin Lin, then 5, and her mother, Lin Feng, suffered severe facial
burns when her father's concubine splashed them with sulphuric acid.
The city of Shanghai took in the two victims who are still living in a
hospital ward in Nanhui.
Lin Lin is due to graduate from Shanghai Financial College next February but
as most employers attach high importance to physical appearance, many of her job
applications have been turned down.
