Zhang, the mother of a five-year-old boy in Tianjin, suffered a serious eye injury after her son followed her own advice, Xinhua News Agency reports.

She told her son to stand up for himself and fight back if he were ever bullied by other people.

"You must punish them for what they do to you," she said to the little boy for many times.

One evening when the boy repeatedly asked his mother for permission to play outside with his friends, Zhang said no, explaining that it were very late.

Regarding his mother's refusal as a kind of bullying, the boy aimed a slingshot at her left eye and let fly.

The woman's retina was detached in the incident, and she was rushed to a hospital by her family for emergency treatment.
