Export commodities fair to draw foreign business people ( 2003-10-13 20:35) (Xinhua)
The 94th China (Guangzhou) Export Commodities Fair, set for Oct. 15 to 30,
will attract up to 100,000 foreign business people, including 30,000 from Hong
Kong, Xu Bing, spokesman for the fair, said Monday.
The fair, to be held on an area of 360,000 square meters, would attract a
record 200,000 participating business people to the capital of south China's
Guangdong Province, said Xu.
The fair, the first of its kind since the severe acute respiratory syndrome
(SARS) outbreak, had received positive responses from the United States, Turkey,
Britain, Canada, India and Japan.
The fair would also see a big rise in the volume of business deals signed,
said Xu.
The fair will highlight electronics, electrical appliances, textiles and
garments, machinery, foodstuffs and medicine from Oct. 15 to 20 and change to
office and outdoor articles, home furnishing, gifts, decorations, knitwear,
horticulture, carvings, and jewelry from Oct. 21 to 30.
Guangdong was one of the areas worst-hit by SARS earlier this year.
