The tourism industry in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region earned 941
million yuan (US$113.6 million) during the "Golden Week" National Day holiday,
reports Nanguo Morning Post.
Major tourist spots received nearly 2.23 million visitors, 13.9 per cent
higher than the holiday week last year.
Ticket revenues topped 37.78 million yuan (US$4.56 million), a year-on-year
increase of 2.6 per cent.
A sample survey shows shopping ranked first in terms of tourist spending,
accounting for 30 per cent of the total; and entertainment and dining made up 15
per cent and 18 per cent respectively.
