Bite on nose costs park 5,500 yuan ( 2003-10-10 14:49) (China Daily) The People's Court of
Shijingshan District has ruled that a park in the district should pay 5,500 yuan
(US$664.3) as compensation to a six-year-old girl whose nose was badly hurt by a
peacock, reports Beijing Youth Daily.
Xiao Wei was injured on March 9 when she was feeding peacocks at an open area
in the park. A prominent scar was left on Xiao Wei's nose after treatment.
The girl's family took the park to the court and asked for a compensation of
66,660 yuan (US$8,050), after negotiations failed.
The court said the park has to shoulder some responsibility because of
neglect; but Xiao Wei's parents are also to blame for not minding the
girl.
