The TV station in Xuan'en, Hubei Province, recently showed a special news segment featuring the "ugly behaviour" of government officials attending a meeting, reports Beijing Evening News.

The county government held a meeting on agricultural work in the coming winter on September 17; and the news showed pictures of some officials either slumped in their chairs, dozing off, or making a call on a mobile phone - doing everything but listen to the speakers.

The news, which was replayed several times in the past few days, also exposed some officials who arrived late or left earlier.

The county government said the exposure was to show the government's determination to reform officials' working style.
