Black bears 'frolic' in farmers' fields ( 2003-09-30 13:02) (China Daily) Some farmers' fields in a
village in the Tibetan county of Motuo have become a playground for black bears
hungry for ripe fruits and vegetables, reports Xinhua.
Since mid-August, most farmers' fields in Gedang Village have been frequented
by black bears, which are particularly partial to corn.
The big animals pad through the fields, crushing some plants and eating from
others.
Some even bellow and "dance" as if they were enjoying rock & roll music,
said Wang Delian, director of the county bureau of forestry.
An estimated 50 black bears regularly plunder the villagers' fields. More
