Former victim joins theft gang ( 2003-09-30 13:02) (China Daily) One of three robbers arrested
by police in Xi'an last Friday turned out to be an intended victim who decided
to join the other two, reports Huashang Bao.
When Guo Fuzhong of Gansu Province was robbed by high-school students Li and
Kang last Thursday night, he had only 2 yuan (24 US cents) in his pocket.
The pair returned the small change to him, then asked if he dared join them
to rob someone else.
Guo felt he had nothing to lose and agreed.
While Guo kept a lookout, Li and Kang hit a taxi driver on the head and
robbed him of 80 yuan (US$9.60) in cash and a cellphone. The trio then escaped
in another taxi.
The injured cabbie called police, who eventually caught the three robbers
with the help of passers-by.
