Appeal to reduce sentence denied ( 2003-09-30 12:53) (China Daily) The Shanghai No 2 Intermediate
People's Court recently rejected an appeal filed by a man who was sentenced to
two-and-a-half years in prison for selling fake invoices, reports Shanghai
Evening Post.
Rao Shibin, a farmer from East China's Anhui Province, was caught selling 100
falsified invoices to a man last October.
And police seized another 1,450 counterfeit invoices from him as well.
Because it was his first time to be charged with a crime, Rao argued, he
should have received a lighter sentence, particularly as he had only sold 100 of
the false invoices.
But the court finally ruled that Rao deserved the punishment, saying he had
already sold 100 fake invoices and obviously intended to sell the remaining
1,450 pieces
