Headmaster also charged in fire case ( 2003-09-26 14:38) (China Daily)
A primary-school headmaster in Yunnan Province has been arraigned on charges
of endangering his students after a teacher set a fire in which eight pupils
died, reports Shenghuo News.
The 25-year-old teacher, Yang Wenfu, was unsatisfied with his treatment at
the school and did not get on with his colleagues. On June 6, after Yang was
criticized by school leaders, he decided to set the school on fire in
retaliation.
Yang has been imprisoned for his crime, but the headmaster, Yu Suochang, is
now being prosecuted for knowingly failing to safeguard students' security while
they were studying at the school at night and in their dormitories. The
headmaster's trial is still going on.
