The raised capital in China's securities market climbed to a new height in
August, but at the same time, the stock turnover shrank to the lowest point,
according to latest statistics from the China Securities Regulatory Commission
(CSRC) released Thursday.
Dealers raised about 11.14 billion yuan (about 1.4 billion US dollars) in
August, up 0.47 percent over the previous month.
However, the stock turnover decreased to 149.96 billion yuan, down 34.90
percent over the last month and 12 billion yuan lower than in February (162.086
billion yuan) when the lowest stock turnover was registered.
August is the fourth consecutive month in which dealers have witnessed a
slump of turnover in the market, the statistics showed.
In addition, the total value of market capitalization, negotiable market
capitalization and stamp duty also underwent a decline in August, respectively
down 2.84 percent, 2.69 percent and 34.93 over July.
