Posts, vocations cause salary gap ( 2003-09-24 14:24) (China Daily)
Women earn just 70 per cent of the incomes that men take home, according to a
survey conducted by a labour agency in the city, Shanghai Morning Post reports.
According to the survey of 100 enterprises in Shanghai, women's salaries are
so much lower because men primarily hold senior management positions.
And most men and women are engaged in different vocations. For example, in
the food sector, most waiting-staff are women, while most chefs are men. And a
chef's income is much higher than that of a waitress.
