Woman sues hospital over topless X-ray ( 2003-09-24 14:14) (China Daily)
A woman has sued the Second Hospital in the Chaoyang District over being
required to remove her top and bra for an X-ray, Beijing Times reports.
Wen said she was asked to take off her top by a male doctor for an X-ray on
April 20. He then asked her to undo her bra as well.
Though greatly embarrassed, Wen followed his instruction as she did not know
the proper procedure for such an examination.
When Wen was later told it was not necessary to remove her clothing for an
X-ray, she felt humiliated and angry. She demanded an apology and financial
compensation from the hospital.
But a woman staff of the Chaoyang Health Bureau explained that some parts of
women's bra can be metallic, and a doctor has the right to ask patients to undo
their bra if he believes the parts will affect the X-ray.
