The first pet cremation facility in China began operating last Friday,
reports Beijing Morning Post.
Jiang Kun, a renowned cross-talk performer and a director of the Beijing
Small Animal Protection Association, inaugurated the service.
The ashes of the first animal to be cremated, a stray dog, were placed in a
white urn.
According to Zhao Xiaoqing, secretary-general of the Beijing Small Animal
Protection Association, cremation fees differ depending on the size of the
animal. Charges graduate from 500 yuan (US$60) for small animals to 600 yuan
(US$72) for medium-sized pets and 800 yuan (US$96) for large
animals.
