Aquarium stars subject to selection ( 2003-09-19 14:13) (China Daily) "Training for selection", a
new method for choosing the best performing animals to take part in National Day
Holiday festivities, went into effect on Tuesday at the Beijing Aquarium,
reports Beijing Morning News.
Some clever animal stars, taking advantage of their trainers' unwillingness
to beat them, have been causing trouble during performances by ignoring
instructions or making odd moves.
To prevent such disturbances from recurring, the Beijing Aquarium has decided
that talented animals must pass a selection programme alongside their newly
arrived counterparts. Only those exhibiting flawless performances will be
allowed to take part in the programme.
An expert trainer revealed that audiences may see some new faces during the
National Day Holiday performances, including six dolphins from Japan and a baby
dolphin named Kai Qi.
