Beijing will hold the inaugural Olympic Cultural Festival from September 21
to 30, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) said
here on Thursday.
The ten-day long festival will feature exhibitions of the Olympic emblems and
posters and a series of mass activities in the Chinese capital city, Sun Weijia,
deputy director of BOCOG's Media and Communications Department, told a press
conference.
Meanwhile, scholars and experts from home and abroad will attend symposiums
on Olympic Games image design and cultural innovation, torch relay, Olympic
education, and utilization of digital technology for the Olympic Games.
"The festival is aimed at showcasing the colorful and profound Chinese
culture, boosting the spread of Olympic spirit in China and promoting the
concepts of 'Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics'," said
Sun.
The Olympic Cultural Festival will be held annually in the following five
years before the 2008 Games, he added.
