Strict regulations discipline police force ( 2003-09-17 14:52) (China Daily) Three stringent rules meant
to regulate police officers' on-the-job behaviour and attitude have gone into
effect in Dongcheng District, Beijing Times reports.
Officers may be deprived of bonus money or even be sacked if they are found
guilty of exceeding their authority, behaving in an unacceptable manner or other
disciplinary problems over a two-year period.
The rules are expected to sound the alarm within the district's police force.
The first complaint from a member of the public may result in a warning notice
and no bonus for a month, while a third complaint could lead to
dismissal.
