Farmer's home-made plane fails to fly ( 2003-09-16 13:50) (China Daily) A Gansu farmer who spent
three years and 80,000 yuan (US$9,600) building his own airplane has failed to
get the home-made machine off the ground, reports Xinhua.
Zhang Yuxiang, a farmer in Baiyin, Gansu Province, runs a motorcycle repair
shop. After starting his project in 2001, he finally finished the aircraft on
September 1.
The plane is six metres long, nine metres wide and weighs 480 kilograms. But
he has yet to get the plane airborne in several attempted flights at a local
airport.
