Eight students were stabbed by their schoolmate Saturday on campus in south
China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with three of them in critical
condition.
The eight stabbed female students are from Guangxi Teachers' College based in
Nanning, capital of the autonomous region. Three of them, Wang Xuelan, Wang Fen
and Huang Ting, are still in critical condition, according to a teacher of the
college dealing with the incident. The college authorities declined to tell the
suspect's name.
The suspected stabber poked the eight schoolmates in a dormitory building at
noon time Saturday with a fruit knife. The victims were rushed to a hospital
opposite to the college, said the teacher.
Wang Xuelan, Wang Fen and Huang Ting have since remained unconscious. Doctor
Xie Changji said that they were not in a stable condition. "Wang Xuelan and Wang
Fen are suffering from pneumothorax, which endangers their lives," said the
doctor.
The police investigated the building and collected evidence. The suspect has
been held in custody.
The suspect had a one-year suspension of schooling because she had tried to
commit suicide by cutting her wrist, said a student who asked not to be
named.
