Abused man asks for divorce ( 2003-09-12 13:55) (China Daily) A 57-year-old man in Chengdu
is demanding a divorce from his wife who had abused him for the past two years,
reports Chengdu Business News.
"She often beat me hard," said Zhong Qingquan, a gatekeeper at the Taixing
Town government's residential complex.
He showed the court a bruise on his knee, a red scar on his left thigh and
four stitches on his left hand, all caused by his wife.
Zhong has been married to the woman for 20 years. But she started acting
differently two years ago and often lost her temper.
When asked why he did not fight back, Zhong said he could not match her in
strength. "She's seven years younger than me, and she could easily lift 100
kilograms of ducks as she was in the duck business before," said Zhong.
His wife, Liu Xiaorong, said she beat her husband because she suspected him
of having an affair. "I would rather beat him to death than give him to a third
party," she said.
