Cheating gadgets seized in raids ( 2003-09-11 12:52) (China Daily)
A total of 184 shops in Guangzhou were found selling surveillance cameras or
other equipment that could be used to cheat in mahjong games - in a joint action
by police and the industrial and commercial bureau on Tuesday, reports Guangzhou
Daily.
The equipment can be used on "automatic" mahjong tables, which shuffle and
distribute tiles for players. According to the equipment manual, the item can be
installed within 10 minutes and allow the game to be manipulated by remote
control. Police also found a batch of spy cameras - small enough to fit in belt
buckles and buttons - also believed to mainly be used to cheat in games of
chance.
The production and sale of surveillance equipment requires special licensing,
warned Liang Xingxia, deputy director of the Municipal Public Security
Bureau.
