Illegal ticket dealers are running a new business these days - selling used train tickets, reports Beijing Star Daily. And police have been unable to stop them.

A number of women wander the pathways leading to the Beijing Western Railway Station, peddling used tickets they say executives can turn in to their companies as receipts to write off expenses for business trips.

The used tickets are usually sold at 10 per cent of their original price. But those for the busiest lines, such as Beijing to Shanghai, go for higher amounts, according to one peddler.

Police say they have tried to crack down on the new racket, but the suspects always say they are merely used ticket collectors.
