Passenger carries many explosives ( 2003-09-10 12:35) (China Daily) A man in his 60s was turned
over to police after he was found to be carrying 14 kinds of explosives by
security staff at Pudong International Airport, Jiefang Daily reports.
Around noon on September 4, security officer Zhi Wenxiang noticed a bag
containing explosives on the X-ray screen and immediately notified his superior.
By that time, the owner of the bag had passed through the metal detector. As
requested, the man, Yan, presented his retirement certificate, saying that he
used to work for the public security bureau of a certain city and was flying to
Shenzhen.
Fourteen kinds of explosives, eight detonators and three fuses were found in
his bag.
Yan explained that he was carrying the devices on business. In the interest
of safety, Yan was transferred to the airport's public security section for
further questioning.
