Huang makes new finds in ceramics

A Tsinghua graduate and professor, Huang Yong and his research group have scored prominent results in the study of advanced ceramics.
He and his group invented the colloidal injection moulding of ceramics(CIMC), a creative technology combining the advantages of conventional injection moulding and colloidal forming process, which manufactures ceramic parts with implastic suspensions via injection for the first time in the world.
Furthermore, Huang invented the first colloidal injection-moulding machine in the world, which has been applied into the production of ceramic parts.
He also developed a novel method for the preparation of concentrated suspension with low viscosity, which plays an important role to make ceramic parts with even and high-density structure.
To overcome the fragility of ceramics, Huang also initiated a new method of making highly elastic ceramics.
Many of his inventions have been applied into the production of ceramics, and have generated considerable profits.
Huang has helped in the building of a 1,800-square-metre CIMC pilot base in Tsinghua University, the first of its kind in the world.
A series of ceramics products have been developed in the base and adopted by companies in Guangdong and Shandong provinces.
He has also helped build a production base for CIMC in the high-tech development zone of Handan in Hebei Province. With an annual production of 5,000 tons of ceramics beads, the base is among the largest ceramic beads suppliers in the world.
Huang has published about 400 papers and has 33 patent applications.
