Cui Mingqi, a professor with the Institute of High Energy Physics under the
Chinese Academy of Sciences, has devoted himself to research in synchrotron
radiation X-ray optical technology and applications. Cui did research in
superconductive cavities in 1977-83. Since 1983 he has conducted research in
synchrotron radiation X-ray optical technology and applications. In 1991 he
established a research team and the lab for synchrotron soft S-ray optical
technology at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider National Laboratory. In
1994 he developed China's first synchrotron radiation soft X-ray reflectometer
with multi-layer monochromater. In 2000 he established China's first
research base for soft X-ray optical technology and applications. Cui was
awarded the second prize for technological invention by the State in 2000 and
the second prize for technological innovation by the Chinese Academy of Sciences
in 1998. He has headed many key projects in China, served as advisor for 10
doctoral candidates and published over 60 papers. Cui's research work can be
summarized as follows: *Construction of the experimental stage of the soft
X-ray range of Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF) *Construction of
the synchrotron radiation soft x-ray relectometer with multi-layer monochromater
at Beamline 3B1 of BSRF *Construction of Beamline 3B3 with double crystal
monochromater in the middle X-ray range (1.2keV-6keV) at the
BSRF *Collectivity work at the BSRF He is also an instructor of doctoral
candidates, deputy director of the Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, and a
member of Expert Committee of Synchrotron Radiation of the Chinese Physics
Society. He has also been granted a special monthly government subsidy.
