University 'enrols' 85-year-old man ( 2003-09-05 14:41) (China Daily)
An 85-year-old man, who did not attend the National College Entrance
Examination held in June, received notification of admission to a college on
Monday, reports Modern Express.
The notice, from Jiangxi Haida College, read, "Student Zhu Buyang, you have
been admitted to our college to study trade English. Please register between
August 15 and September 15."
Zhu was confused at first, as he had been retired for 20 years and had never
taken the exam.
But he wondered how the college got his personal information, including his
address, name and postal code.
Zhu later found out that some private colleges routinely send out "admission
notices" at random, on the hope of attracting students and earning tuition
fees.
