A pickpocket left a stolen purse in a taxi on Wednesday along with a note asking the cabby to return it to its rightful owner, reports Modern Express.

Taxi driver Shao found the purse in his cab when he drove the vehicle to a carwash.

Shao opened it hoping to find some contact information. The purse contained an ID card belonging to a girl surnamed Zhao, a bank card and a document indicating that she attended the Nanjing University of Science and Technology.

But he also found a note that read "Please find the owner of this purse and return it to her".

Shao handed the purse over to police who quickly located the owner. The girl was surprised to get the purse back, as it had gone missing from her bag two days earlier.

But the pickpocket had removed the cash in the purse.
