Law school grad pays scapegoat ( 2003-09-04 13:57) (China Daily)
A law school graduate tried to pay someone to take the blame for a traffic
accident he caused that killed one person, reports Huaxi Metro News.
The victim of the accident, which occurred on the southern section of the
second ring road in Chengdu, died soon after being sent to hospital on July 27.
Police traced the car to its owner, He Honglin, then vice-president of a
trade company. But He claimed that Du Bangqiang, a friend of his, had been
driving the car that day.
Du "confessed", but said he could not provide any details of the accident
because he was drunk at the time.
But police were suspicious of Du's explanation. After several more
interrogations, Du admitted that He had paid him to take the rap. Police
arrested He, a law school graduate.
