Crab lovers make haul along river ( 2003-09-03 15:54) (China Daily)
Thousands of crabs came ashore on the 30-40 metre-long waterfront at the
Dongnan Wharf in Pudong along the Huangpu River, prompting passers-by and nearby
residents to scoop up as many as possible, reports Shanghai Morning Post.
Early Monday morning as the tide ebbed, thousands of crabs could be seen
climbing out of the water.
Weighing as much as 500-1,000 grams each, the crabs proved tempting to people
passing by.
One elderly man even removed his trousers and jumped into the river to scoop
up as many crabs as he could handle. He caught about 30 kilograms worth of the
tasty crustaceans altogether. Witnesses said many others reaped similar
"harvests".
