Millennium babies jam kindergartens

Kindergartens in Beijing were overflowing with millennium babies on Monday
when the new semester began, reports Beijing Evening News.
Beijing Kindergarten recruited more than 100 children, most of whom were born
in the year 2000.
The No 1 Kindergarten in the Fengtai District, meanwhile, welcomed 200
students this year, doubling last year's enrolment.
Many parents have had to go to great lengths to find preschools for their
three-year-olds, as the more prestigious kindergartens were fully booked well
ahead of time.
The baby boom was the result of a rush to give birth in the doubly auspicious
millennium and Chinese lunar year of the dragon in 2000.
