Passenger fight leads to 'toxic-gas' farce ( 2003-09-02 10:43) (China Daily)
Another "toxic-gas" farce took place on a bus last Saturday, again set off by
several passengers fighting, reports Beijing Star Daily.
At about 10:15 am as a bus was about to leave Beijing Western Railway
Station, two young men engaged in a quarrel with two other people.
The quarrel soon escalated into a fight. Suddenly, pungent white "smoke"
filled the front part of the bus where the scuffle was taking place. Someone
shouted out that it was toxic gas.
As the doors would not open in the ensuing panic, some 20 passengers
scrambled out of the windows.
Police later determined that the bus' fire extinguisher had been set off in
the scrap.
