Man hits brake over sound effect ( 2003-09-01 10:48) (China Daily)
The sound of an emergency handbrake broadcast over the radio nearly caused a
real traffic accident when a listener automatically pulled his own brake in
response, reports Beijing Star Daily.
Tian, a newly licensed driver, was carefully navigating the Fourth Ring Road
a few days ago when some pleasant music began playing on the radio.
But suddenly, a loud screeching filled his ears, and he quickly pulled the
handbrake before he realized where the sound had come from.
Several vehicles behind him were forced to slam on their brakes as well.
Tian eventually realized he was listening to an advertisement when a voice
said, "There's the real estate development! Stop here!"
