High official quits to join private firm ( 2003-08-29 11:46) (China Daily) Home-appliance giant Midea
Group has confirmed that Liu Zhixing, the former deputy director of Foshan's
Shunde District, has joined the group as vice-chief executive, reports Foshan
Daily.
Liu is expected to make great contributions to Midea with his administrative
experience and social connections, said a Midea spokesperson.
Liu's former colleagues have given their blessing to his decision to quit his
public post.
Enterprises like Midea need executives like Liu, and the government respects
his choice for his career development, said Zhou Tianming, director of the
district government.
Liu, 44, had been a civil servant for 28 years and had been in charge of
economic development, trade and finance in recent years.
The government recruits talent from the private sector, so there is no reason
why the private sector should not look to the government for talent as well.
More officials will change jobs and sectors as Liu has, said another
official.
