Dead pets need proper disposal ( 2003-08-26 11:48) (China Daily)
Shanghai must come up with a more sanitary way of disposing of the carcasses of dead household pets, Oriental Morning Post reports. At present, some citizens simply throw the bodies into the dustbin, while others bury them or apply for a water burial. But experts say that because domesticated animals carry pathogens that could infect humans, none of these methods is safe. Cremation has been suggested as the best way to insure that no germs are spread. But no crematorium in Shanghai currently offers such a service. |
