Travelling man promotes blood donation ( 2003-08-25 11:38) (HK Edition)
A man from Sichuan has been travelling around the country encouraging people
to donate blood at free, hygienic clinics.
He arrived in Zibo, Shandong Province on Thursday, reports Luzhong Morning
Post.
The 49-year-old Yang Shunde set up his mobile exhibit at the square in front
of the Yinzuo Shopping Mall, talking to passers-by and handing out pamphlets
describing how blood donation can save and improve lives of other people.
The former medical worker told the newspaper he was sad to see that many
villagers suffered from diseases contracted after selling their blood to
disreputable dealers.
He embarked on his national tour in April 2001, handing out leaflets printed
with his own money. In the past two years, he has visited 193 cities in 22
provinces spreading his message.
