2 arrests in death of teenager ( 2003-08-20 10:52) (China Daily) Police have arrested two suspects in the death of a 15-year-old runaway whose body was found near Guangzhou Northern Railway Station on April 10, reports New Express News. The boy, Zheng, who had been beaten and suffered a severed hamstring, was believed to have died of his serious injuries, police said. He was later identified by his parents, two migrant workers native to Hubei Province. After interviewing some 60,000 people who might have encountered Zheng after he ran away from home, police fixed their suspicions on a petty-crime gang that operated near the railway station. Zhang, 30, and Xie, 15, confessed to the killing after being taken into custody. Zheng had been a "competitor" in their trade of rubbish scavenging, theft and robbery, they said. They and a friend nicknamed "Guangxi" ganged up on Zheng after finding him alone on April 9 and inflicted the "hamstring punishment" on him. "Guangxi" is still at large, said police.
