Fair to flit to new locale next year
( 2003-08-20 10:08) (China Daily)

The 13th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) (Guangzhou), scheduled in March next year, is expected to move to the new fairground in Guangzhou Pazhou International Conference and Exhibition Centre.

The new centre is also the destination of the bi-annual international trade event of the China Export Commodities Fair. It will also be the venue for a number of such events in the South China's prosperous metropolis of Guangzhou.

Located on Pazhou Island in the southeast of Guangzhou, the first phase of the new exhibition centre occupies an area of 420,000 square metres, with 13 exhibition halls scattered on three floors.

It has a capacity of 7,240 standard booths in addition to another 22,000 square metres for outdoor exhibition. Designed by a Japanese architect, the new centre looks like a running river from a bird-eye's view.

Upon the completion of the second phase, the centre will reach 700,000 square metres, and the exhibiting area will be expanded to 250,000 square metres.

The centre has been equipped with an advanced airconditioning system which consumes less energy and ensures a better air flow.

Some 90 escalators and lifts have been installed in more than 100 entries and exits. In addition, three theme parks around the centre are under construction. There are two stations of Subway Line 2 near the centre.

The centre is designed and constructed following the 5A intelligence construction standard. Power supply, telephone, cable television, broadband Internet and a screen monitoring system are available in every booth.
