Jail sentence for ammeter modifying ( 2003-08-19 10:55) (China Daily)
An electricity technician in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province was sentenced to four
years in jail for helping people steal power by modifying ammeters, reports
Xinhua.
Lu Sisong, 54, who had previously been jailed for theft, charged Lin 200 yuan
(US$24) for resetting her home's ammeter to run more slowly than usual. Lin
later agreed to find more customers for Lu - she was paid 50 yuan (US$6) for
each deal arranged.
Lu provided his "services" to more than 20 households, guaranteeing them
bills showing less than 60 kilowatt hours used per month.
Lu earned about 6,000 yuan (US$720) in the scam, resulting in more than
18,000 yuan (US$2,170) worth of electricity being stolen.
