Jail sentence for ammeter modifying
( 2003-08-19 10:55) (China Daily)

An electricity technician in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province was sentenced to four years in jail for helping people steal power by modifying ammeters, reports Xinhua.

Lu Sisong, 54, who had previously been jailed for theft, charged Lin 200 yuan (US$24) for resetting her home's ammeter to run more slowly than usual. Lin later agreed to find more customers for Lu - she was paid 50 yuan (US$6) for each deal arranged.

Lu provided his "services" to more than 20 households, guaranteeing them bills showing less than 60 kilowatt hours used per month.

Lu earned about 6,000 yuan (US$720) in the scam, resulting in more than 18,000 yuan (US$2,170) worth of electricity being stolen.
